"Since this is my first album as a bandleader I want to heartily thank all the people who have been highly influential on my musical development in the past and present and have helped me become the person
I am now: my lovely parents Monika and Erwin and my sister Anna, who always supported me and let me grow up in a musical environment; my wonderful girlfriend Rebecca who encouraged me to finally make this album a reality and helped me a lot with it; Erich Appel, who taught me classical music back in the days; my jazz piano teachers Bernhard Pichl and Hubert Nuss; Roman Schwaller and Adrian Mears for inviting me twice to the Generations workshop and festival in Frauenfeld where I experienced the real spirit of jazz for the first time and where my understanding of this music was sustainably shaped; naturally my all-time heroes Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock and Oscar Peterson, whose records deeply influenced my way of playing over the years; my buddy Markus for all the great hangs, listening to and talking about jazz (among other things) together – and, most important, big thanks to Martin, Silvio and Lutz for your incredible musicianship, your commitment and your energy. I feel very blessed to play music with you. I also want to thank Beate Sampson for making this production possible and for regularly supporting freelance musicians and of course Carsten, Thomas, Theo, Christoph, Philipp, Rainer, Cris, Sebastian and Felix for your amazing work."
